Alorkpem Island Outreach – 2023

Alorkpem Island was the focal point of our 2023 project, where we took our commitment to the next level. Joined by 95 compassionate partners and donors, we delivered crucial resources and organized events to support the health, education, and overall well-being of the community.

Key Contributions to Alorkpem:

  • Extensive Clothing Donation: With 8,000+ clothing items, including 148 newly sewn outfits for children, every family received clothing fit for various occasions.
  • Footwear and School Bags: Over 350 pairs of footwear, 40 school bags, and 35 handbags were donated, adding comfort and functionality to daily routines.
  • Empowering Young Women: In a first for our projects, we provided sanitary pads to all adolescent girls and hosted a workshop on menstrual hygiene, fostering empowerment and self-care.
  • Educational Supplies: An assortment of stationery items supported students in their academic journey, helping them stay prepared and confident.
  • Health and Hygiene Initiatives: Free medical screenings were conducted, and we supplied the local health post with essential medical supplies, directly supporting the community’s health needs.
  • Community Engagement Events: We hosted a durbar, bringing joy and unity to the island’s children, and creating an atmosphere of celebration and community connection.

This project highlighted the powerful impact of coming together to support a community with the resources, knowledge, and medical care it needs to thrive. Our journey to Alorkpem Island served as a reminder of what we can accomplish when driven by compassion and dedication.
